Each session always involves consists of a thorough assessment progress of your horse or dog to first establish a baseline of their condition; and thereafter to measure patient progress and changes in gait, posture, muscle condition and joint mobility. Following this, an individually-tailored treatment will consist of various manual techniques and electrotherapies to enhance healing, relieve pain and discomfort, reduce muscle tension, improve circulation and increase suppleness.

Electrotherapies

Laser Therapy - Great for treating muscle spasms and fasciculations in muscular tissue. Additionally, any joints suffering from heat and inflammation, the use of laser can reduce this through an inhibitory setting.

Ultrasound - Using a different wavelength to laser, the ultrasound is able to influence tissue through aiding collagen alignment in muscular, tendon and ligament injuries.

PEMFT - Pulsed magnetic electromagnetic therapy provides a multitude of functions in aiding relieving chronic and acute discomfort, increase and/or decrease blood flow to an area as well as improving bone healing.


Manual Therapies

A variety of massage techniques can be applied depending on the desired outcomes for the patient. Techniques such as effleurage and compression both aid in increasing blood flow to areas and rehydrating soft tissue. Tapotement techniques aid in activating muscle tissue reducing atrophy in muscle tissue.


Exercise Programmes

Following the session a report will be sent to you detailing recommended exercises that will have been discussed during the session. Exercise therapy is advised to further develop strength and performance in-between therapy sessions. Rehabilitation patients will receive a more specific plan to increase exercise in a controlled and focused manner to ensure a safe return back to activity.
